On November 30, 2022, a revolutionary breakthrough in technology came into existence. It was an Artificial Intelligence chatbot – was it a friend or foe? It could easily mimic humans in a way they could believe it was human. It could write essays in numerous languages at the level of the average college student. It could replace jobs such as the occasional customer care service representative or data entry clerk.
ChatGPT was an AI model built on the GPT-3.5 dataset by OpenAI. GPT-3.5 has 20 billion language samples, making it easy for ChatGPT to train itself well enough to mimic humans. On asking ChatGPT how it could change the world, it replied – “Ultimately, it is up to the people who use me to determine how they want to use my capabilities to make a positive impact in the world.”
In my opinion, ChatGPT is useful though its ability to imitate humans is a little bit worrying. It can write emails with proper grammar, making it a scammer’s gem. A software that can write emails that compare to that of a legitimate email, one that is persuasive enough to make an unsuspecting user open a malicious link, one that could mimic emails word for word, this can be the turning point in their illegal career.
Still, its usefulness makes it a technological breakthrough, for an AI Chatbot that has never been able to write like a human before. ChatGPT could help legitimate companies with work like writing emails or aiding students preparing for their examinations. We can set ChatGPT to work when we cannot pay for employees and still get results that shall astonish users for a chatbot has never matched a human’s work.
ChatGPT is one of the most advanced AI chatbots ever and its contribution will make a significant impact on the world.
